I

sun-drenched orchards
                  cloud-streaked skies
some recognizable
seeds strewn
                   across

the old house
empty except for
some dough on
        the table
          folding

everything seems
enough for now
but some time
we'll approach
the myriad

implications of changing
one's life
  but not
today

we just survey
these things
we live among

II

the old path
    meanders
         among fields
already laid
fallow

early morning
       wind
             blows hard
past stone
openings

a white goat
         rests under
the sun
             sinks
in the harbor
down below

accumulated
waves of
green reflect
the densities of
upper registers

III

a beekeeper
              guided us
                      along the shore

through rugged
gneiss and schist
our eyes
inter
       pellated
at every turn

oh endymion
in what cavity
will you dwell
tonight

your fields
give way
         to sheer foliage
you raise
the cupped star

to the unspoken
things hidden
in silent
vaults

struck
by the dusty
fingers of
dawn

IV

all night thunder
rumbled in
the distant
conjunction
          of its intervals

kept me
awake
fidgeting the secret
cipher
of its variance

       red
lights clear
by morning
windmills flank
the ascent
to the monastery

the bedrock
spread over
cleft stones
frame the landscape
green grey blue

V

to gather
        the relevant
in a place
just sit
           patiently

among the reeds
wait for things
to unfold
as waterfowl

skimming
the lake
          surface

the activity
myth
moves north

as light
leaves
     shapes behind

VI

followed twin
creeks
          downslope
quietly
slid through
empty

streets now
that wandering
has been
restricted by
decree

a cloudy eye
tracks my every
step around
volume and current
unnamed

pines
and trojan fir
peaking white
with late snow
and mountains blue
all the way
